3 Months

This happy little girl is now 3 months old!  She's getting a little chubbier, a little more interested in her brother, and a whole lot cuter!  This month Lucy began rolling from her back to stomach, took her first plane ride to Indiana, and rode on the world's biggest ferris wheel.

Mom went back to work this month and it wasn't without a few tears.  Just to be clear, going back to work after baby #2 is NOT easier than going back to work after baby #1!  Unfortunately, I knew what to expect and how sad I would be, but it didn't take long for all of us to get the hang of mornings, evenings, and daycare.  I believe Lucy's first day at daycare was hardest on Calvin.  He loves his sister and being able to see her across the hall without being able to physically be with her was pretty torturous for him.  I believe he cried for the first 3-4 hours that morning.  Calvin is now handling the situation much better, thank goodness!

Oh!  And after taking Calvin to daycare for the first time when he was 12 weeks old I wrote this blog.  Well, one child required 8 bags to get out the door and 2 children (plus me) required TEN BAGS!  Thankfully, Dad was there to assist this time.
  • Stats: Unknown.  Somewhere close to 13 lbs and looooong.  Is showing your midriff acceptable for a 3 month old?  This girl will never own a shirt that is long enough to touch the waist of her pants.
  • Sleep: Lucy is still waking about once per night.  She's up for a quick feed and diaper change and then right back to sleep.  I guess she's worried that her cheeks might slim down if she skips a meal or 2 ;)
  • Eat: She continues to be an A+ nurser and after her first day of daycare, she is a champ with the bottle, too.  She's eating about 3-4 oz from the bottle.
Now for the good stuff.....

Calvin is closing in on his 2nd birthday and has enjoyed having some extra time with Mom, too!  He also visited Indiana, rode the High Roller, and started playing soccer.

Lucy is not a fan of the annual "kissing cousins" photos.

Soccer is pretty exhausting!

Indiana sure is fun!!

This was the morning of their first school picture day.  I'm convinced that having picture day in daycare was created solely to stress moms out.

2 Whole Months!

If you thought I was behind with Calvin's monthly updates, just wait.  This time around is going to be ugly.  At least I am posting before she turns 3 months old!

Our little "Goose" is a ball of smiles.  She really started to wake up this month and she often wears a smile between those beautiful chubby cheeks.  Mommy, Daddy, and Calvin can't kiss her enough.  Calvin is still in love with his "Sissy" and often asks to hold her.  He is always concerned when she cries, running to tell us that she needs her paci.  If he happens to wake before she does in the mornings, he asks about her every 30 seconds and watches her on the baby monitor until she wakes up.

  • Stats: 11 lbs 13 oz (60th percentile) and 24" long (96th percentile).  Her 2 month check-up went great.  Dad had his hands full as Mom and Lucy both shed lots of tears when she got her shots.
  • Sleep: This girl loves to nap!  Her naps during the day can last up to 4 hours each.  She is waking 1-2 times at night, but falls right back to sleep after eating.  We always thought there was no way that we could have another baby that sleeps as well as Calvin, but it looks like we have been blessed with another great sleeper.  Lucy has finally taken to the pacifier and loves to be swaddled when she sleeps.
  • Eat:  Lucy continues to nurse well and we try to sneak in at least one bottle a day.  She is not a big fan of the bottle, but since I plan to return to work in a few weeks, we try to get her used to it.
Here are several pictures taken during her second month:

She is obviously not a fan of this "headpiece"!

Their first stroller ride together

I can't leave out a little update and a few pictures of Calvin!  This past month he rode his first carnival rides, saw his first live tiger and lion, and has made the most of these last few days of summer!  He is growing taller by the day and saying new words and sentences all the time.  He loves to dance, play any kind of sport that involves a ball, and his Daddy is his very best friend.

Introducing....

Lucy Lea
Arrived July 14, 2014 at 8:10 am
8 lbs 3 oz
20"

AND she's already 1 month old!

I was told that time flies with the second child and, unfortunately, there is a lot of truth in that statement.  This past month has been so fun.  My favorite part of having two children is watching how much Calvin already loves his baby sister.  He, so badly, wants to play with Lucy.  He likes showing her rattles and other baby toys and he thinks it's great when we are holding Lucy while pretending that she is chasing him around the house.  If her foot or hand ever gazes his, he takes it as an automatic invite to tickle his sister back.  He provides her with countless hugs, kisses, tickles, and pats on the head.  I can't wait to watch them grow up together (and I will come back to read this as they are screaming and hitting each other...ha!).

This blog is used to give the grandparents something to read on a rainy afternoon, but I am also using it for the kids' baby books.  So, to keep things fair, the tradition will continue with monthly updates.

  • Stats: 10 lbs 10 oz and roughly 23" long. I am already in "second child" mode.  I was told by the pediatrician at Lucy's two week appointment that I was a "seasoned mom who appeared to have things under control" and there was no need for me to make an appointment for her 1 month check up.  That sounded great to me!
  • Sleep: Lucy struggles with spitting up and a gassy belly so sleeping isn't something she and mom do a lot of at night.  Some nights are definitely better than others, but she can sleep 4 hours+ between feedings when she feels good.  I am changing my diet in hopes that she starts feeling better soon!
  • Eat: This girl nurses like a champ (lucky Dad) and has absolutely no regular eating or sleeping schedule.  She very much dislikes bottles and the paci.

Now, our past month in pictures.....

Delivery Day!

Not too happy about going home!

First bath :)

First playdate with Brooks

This was during my first trip to the store with both kids.  Getting them loaded into the cart wasn't too tough, but where am I supposed to put the groceries???

I had to sneak in a few pictures of this guy, too!  This past month Calvin received his first haircut.  He did great, but thankfully he still doesn't have enough hair to require a return visit anytime soon!

The only thing I can see similar between these two cuties is their double chins! :)

We love you all!
